Farcha Clinic Chad- handing over of kits

Chad

Project Overview

In Chad we work with Safer Birth in Chad Foundation (SBICF), which is based in London and administers the distribution of our birthing kits. Chad has an extremely high maternal mortality rate of 1100:100,000 live births.

BKFA has targeted Chad as a country of high priority for our future support.

Participating Organisations

1. Safer Birth in Chad Foundation (SBICF) (www.saferbirthinchad.org)

SBICF signed an agreement with the Chad Ministry of Health in 2007 to give practical assistance with materials and training needs to the maternity units at Chagoua & Farcha hospitals in N'Djamena. The kits are used specifically by midwives and trained nurses for deliveries both in hospital and when attending home deliveries. Just over 13,000 kits have been sent to Chad for distribution, with a further 3200 planned for 2012.
