Cambodia 08 handing out kits 2h Project

Cambodia

Project Overview

The project in Cambodia was initially through the 2h Project (Hope and Help). In November 2006 Kate Taylor, the 2h project representative met with the Cambodian Minister for Health regarding the training of Cambodian TBA’s in rural and remote areas, along with the distribution of our birthing kits.

In September 07 the Safe Arrivals Training Program was launched by 2h Project with 400 Traditional Birth Attendants being trained and 3000 of our clean birthing kits have been distributed.

Cambodia has a maternal mortality rate of 450:100,000 live births. This is 90 times higher than in Australia.

We currently work with:

The Children’s Sanctuary

Sydney Adventist Hospital Health Care Outreach

Participating Organisations

The Children’s Sanctuary

The Children’s Sanctuary is a new partner organisation and at this stage they have just received their pilot program and are determining their requirements for future shipments.

Sydney Adventist Hospital Health Care Outreach

As a new partner organisation, the Sydney Adventist Hospital Health Care Outreach has received their pilot program and have requested a further 400 kits in 2012. The BKFA is looking forward to further developing our relationship.
