Quentin Bryce praises the BKFA's work
Australia's Governor General, Quentin Bryce, praised the work of the Birthing Kit Foundation during her induction speech as an honorary Zonta Club member on 5 March. In her speech, Ms Bryce praised the Zonta Club members who started and continue the work of the Foundation. She said,
There is no greater gift than the best possible start in life, and this lifesaving initiative is helping to reduce infections in mother and baby at childbirth.
Her praise brought tears to the eyes of several Zontians, as the Foundation maintains strong ties with the service organisation.
The Foundation's Vice-Chairperson, Julie Monis-Ivett, said, 'I even had some tears after her words of praise; it was somewhat overwhelming. For me it was especially special having my daughter Robyn at the luncheon to share the occasion with me.'
